CLIMATE

The Costa Daurada enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate, with mild temperatures in winter and warm summers with little rain. In winter, the mistral wind blows from the North-West and southwesterly from the Southwest, and in the summer there is a low degree of humidity that drives away the mists.

SUN AND BEACHES

The coastline of the Costa Daurada comprises a total of 13 municipalities, that over 81 kilometres offer a sixty beaches of all kinds, from small coves in Mont-roig del Camp-Miami Beach, the cliffs in Torredembarra, or with a high proportion of iodine in the area of El Vendrell-Coma-ruga, with fine sand and shallow waters in Salou and even naturist beaches, such as the beach of the turn of L'Hospitalet de l'infant.

Many of the beaches of the Gold Coast have been awarded the blue flag by the Foundation for environmental education in Europe, and the municipalities of Calafell, Salou, Cambrils, La Pineda, el Vendrell, and the mountains of Prades are certified as a family tourism destination by the Generalitat de Catalunya.

CULTURE

The Costa Daurada has been a territory inhabited since ancient times by the most emblematic civilizations in the history of humanity, that have left their mark, in our region, in the field of art and culture. Among the most important manifestations of the artistic legacy of our ancestors include the Roman heritage of Tarragona and the Cistercian Poblet that have been recognized by UNESCO as "World Heritage", as well as the modernist movement in Reus that is found mainly in the architecture of the city.

LEISURE AND ATTRACTIONS

GASTRONOMY

The Mediterranean, with its smells and tastes, is very present in the gastronomy of the Costa Dorada. The combination of the products of the sea and of the field means that there is a wide range of dishes, accompanied by a fine wine with a designation of origin.

The most exquisite palates can enjoy a "calçotada" in March, a good wild boar civet in the winter, a toasted noodles during the whole year, a first dish of the world-famous xató, and even can be endolçar with the typical white food of Reus. All well varied, combining vegetables with meat, fish with fruit, with a large presence of nuts and wine.
